Flowers In The Attic Movie

The only thing I can say about the movie is that it's a terrible interpretation of the book. There are many subtle and not so subtle differences between the movie and the book. One of the few bright spots is that Miss Andrews has a cameo appearance in the film as a maid cleaning a window. Don't blink, or you'll miss it.

Interesting Notes About The Movie

Exterior shots for the movie took place at the Crane House, located in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

V.C. Andrews stated that the Crane House was the very image of Foxworth Hall.

She turned down five scripts before accepting Jeffrey Bloom's version.

Andrews told Kristy Swanson, "You're exactly as I picture Cathy."

V.C. Andrews cameo, which was scene 62a, occurs 44 minutes into the film, lasting exactly 2.5 seconds.

She passed away before seeing the finished movie, which was released in 1987.

Wes Craven, of Nightmare On Elm Street fame, had also written a script for Flowers In The Attic that was much more darker and violent than Bloom's version but the project never got off the ground.
